Spur Straps
How do I choose the right spur straps?
Hi! I need help choosing the correct straps for my english spurs. I don’t know if this will help, but I don’t ride in shows too often and I ride once to twice a week. And, how do you thread them through the loops? I tried a to do a friend’s pair but ended up totally lost!

Personally, on my non-show spurs, I prefer the web straps. You can tighten them more accurately. The leather ones have the preset holes, and I always find that one hole is too loose, and the other is too tight. The web lets me (and Goldilocks) get it juuuust riiiight. The other advantage to them is that when they get muddy, you can just toss the spur and the strap in a bucket of water and soak off the mud. ‘Way easier than leather and cleaning them and re-threading them later.
To thread them, you need to decide which spur is right and left. Prince of Wales spurs have a difference, others don’t. The buckle should be on the outside top, so you start threading from the top, on the outside bar, and you do the first threading from the inside of the spur bar, go outside, then back inside. Then you go down around what will be the bottom of the boot, and up from inside out, then end coming in.
And if you can understand what I just wrote, you are a better person than I!!
