Who makes the best horse hoof pick, and why is it the best?
I use the cheapie traditional model and it works just fine, but this is a growing debate at the barn…so what do you think?
I had one my horse shoeing instructor made when I went to farrier school. I haven’t seen any others like it, but it was definately the best. It was made out of 1/4″ bar stock, bent almost in half with the two ends bent out, where it was bent in half was the handle the two ends bent out in opposite directions were the pick. One side had a point to get into tight grooves, the other had a chisel or flat head end. It was weighted nicely and had great leverage for stubborn hard packed dirt.
